From talking to other pilgrims, it’s clear that many people setting off on this kind of journey are hoping for a single moment of epiphany – a simple and clear answer to the questions they either faced before setting out, or found along the way. My experience has been rather one of numerous little conclusions and questions. I’m not going to bore you with all of them – indeed if I even remember them all.
But perhaps I can mostly sum it up by saying that, if University taught me how to think, then this pilgrimage has taught me how to do. Perhaps it takes the phrase “step by step” to a new level. But the point remains: the smallest and simplest of actions are scalable, and repeated over and over again, can, for example, take you around 6% of the Earth’s circumference.
If there’s one other thing I’ve learned recently, it’s that it is simply not possible to grow tired of pizza.
