The Project

At Present: St Wilfrid’s Vestry & Toilet

St Wilfrid’s is a Victorian Church, with Victorian facilities. It is a fantastic building, but to be a fantastic venue the amenities need to improve. The long term aspirations are to better serve the community, allowing for more school visits, and as a concert venue. At present, the toilet and facilities available make this very difficult. Additionally, the vestry has a leaking roof, with water now spreading into the main church building. The vestry areas and toilet are in need of a significant upgrade. I’ve taken a few photos of the damage, and put them in a gallery at the bottom of this page.

The Plan: Community Facilities

The basic requirements are to repair the vestry roof, and to improve the toilet and kitchenette facilities. Ideally we will be able to extend into, and transform the grotty area outside the vestry door to create an accessible community room.

In detail, the existing draft plans are for repair of the vestry roof, with internal re-arrangement to allow for the installation of two new toilets in the existing vestry area, one with disabled access. The area outside the vestry door is to be excavated, to allow for a step-free community room on the same level as the vestry. The plans include disabled access to this new extended room, from the churchyard (rough drawings below!).

The scale of the project is dependent on the success of our fundraising. I would be humbled and honoured if you would consider contributing.

Thank you – Alexander
