Hello! Firstly, thank you for visiting my website. I hope you find the walk interesting, and that you’ll keep half an eye on where I am over the next few months, on the way to Rome. This is the first blog post on this website, and frankly has been written entirely for my benefit; I’m still working out how to actually use WordPress, and all this website building stuff is still very new to me! It’s fifteen days until I start the walk, and once I do, I’ll be uploading blog posts like this one to this website at least once a week. I haven’t yet decided which day(s) of the week, but I will mention it when I do.
It may only be fifteen days until I leave, but I have a good deal to finish in that time. My Master’s dissertation is due this coming Thursday, and I’m still fiddling about with python code for it, and have plenty of content still to write. Following that, I have one last piece of coursework to complete, and then I will be almost finished with University, and ready for the walk.
I’ve done my best to keep walking this term, and to finish breaking in the new boots, which I’m hoping will take me most of the way to Rome. Today’s stroll was from Haywards Heath to Ardingly Reservoir, the beginning portion of the walk to Rome. While the weather was nice, to say the paths were muddy would be an understatement. I suspect things won’t be much better in two weeks, and neither in other parts of the country. I think it’s going to start off as quite a muddy walk!
I’ll leave you with a pretty picture of the flow fields inside a stirred tank reactor, from my dissertation.
